Sengupta was raised and educated in Kolkata, India.[citation needed] In 2000, he moved to Mumbai to pursue a career in modelling.[citation needed] On 1 March 2008, he married Barkha Bisht Sengupta who was his co-star in Doli Saja Ke and Pyaar ke do naam...Ek Radha Ek Shyaam. They have togheter a daughter named Meera she was born in October 2011
